Cat MacInnes

Part of

The Perch

Born to an artist father and a ceramicist mother, Cat MacInnes was destined to be creative. From a young age she loved drawing. In high school she was drawing caricatures of her teachers as the animals they resembled, and to this day she sees people as their animal resemblances. Every time Kevin Bacon is on the television, Cat can only see a freshwater turtle. She studied Graphic Design at Swinburne University. In her third year she spent 6 months studying Fine Arts and Illustration in Hong-ik University in Seoul, South Korea on a study grant. Being able to speak only a small amount of Korean, she and her classmates would do drawings for each other to communicate.

Cat's works are gentle and whimsical, with use of strong bright colours and polished vectors. Animals still feature highly in her works.
