Chew Chan

Part of

The Bowery

W. Chew 'Chewie' Chan thrives on variety. He has drawn Marvel Comics' Iron Man, The Phantom, Buckaroo Banzai, and Cthulhu Tales, created conceptual designs on TV shows like David Tench Tonight and storyboarded music videos like Natasha Bettingfield’s Unwritten, award-winning short films like Moving Day, and movies like Happy Feet and Superman Returns.
He was Graphic Novels Supervisor at Kennedy Miller Mitchell/Dr. D Studios where he worked on Justice League America, Mad Max: Fury Road and Happy Feet 2.

Perpetually awed by the visual language of graphic novels & storyboards, and a massive advocate of their power to communicate, he is a lecturer for the Master of Animation at University of Technology Sydney and runs workshops for the New South Wales Writer's Centre. He is the comics consultant for the Kinokuniya Bookstores of Australia, writes for Bookseller + Publisher, and regularly addresses various sectors of the industry including the Australian Booksellers Association.
