Name:
Travis Price
Place of Birth:
Heywood, Victoria
Currently Living in:
Ballarat, Victoria
Train, bus, bike, or other:
Train…..but not after dark! I’ve experienced some strange commuting after dark.
What's the most important object in your studio?
Limited edition Jim Phillips screaming hand figurine. My wife Renee is also sometimes in there but she doesn’t like to be referred to as an object.
Paper or Plastic?
Paper, it flys better!
If you could resurrect one no longer living person to have lunch with, knowing you will have to return them to the grave right after coffee, who would it be?
This may be cheating but I’d choose the Brothers Grimm. It’s hard to say if it’s because of Mister Mista (our childrens label) or the kids but I’ve been really enjoying the old fairy tales. Back when old woman were witches and all step mothers were evil.
Preferred method of dealing with an encounter with an acquaintance whose name you can't remember.
Take a guess at their name (only if you need to introduce someone to them), there’s every chance you’ll be close and they’ll correct you.
Why don't you flip the tortoise over, Leon?
If we’re going to quote movies it’s gotta be Rushmore “I saved latin, what did you do?” I’ve also spent late nights watching the The Royal Tenenbaums…..anything by Wes Anderson.
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
Hopefully not too much as it isn’t cool to waste natural resources. I’d prefer he built something with it.
Favourite client so far?
Spicers Paper, I definitely had a natural connection to the brief and I managed to add a lot of small little details that relate to my own upbringing.
Favourite imaginary client?
Vans or Santa Cruz Skateboards. If they knocked on the door I’d mow their lawns, do their dishes and iron their shirts.
How does your mother describe your profession?
Actually she’s pretty accurate and knows what I do. I guess I was lucky to have her support through my wonder years. She’s got pretty tech savvy over the last few years and I think she may be addicted to facebook.
Coffee or tea?
Coffee, instant, hey I’m low maintenance! By not tasting good coffee, I enjoy all coffee!
What's your earliest drawing memory?
It’s a blur of days lying on the floor drawing in front of the TV. I guess the earliest memories would be age 5.
How do you prefer to spend your mornings?
Watching cartoons with the kids. It actually feels a little like research. You must see “My gym partner’s a monkey”
