Earlier this year, Luci Everett was approached by lovely jubbly Jamie Magazine to create a set of editorial illustrations. Luci gladly accepted the magazine’s advances, and crafted the headline and supplementary illustrations for an article titled, ‘Is Sugar Addictive?’. Addictive or not, Luci sure made the sweet stuff look appealing.

Gemma O’Brien reinforced her stronghold on the chalk type scene, by creating this very fine headline for the Heinz ‘Soup of the Day’ campaign. Gemma worked with GPY&R Melbourne to digitally develop this very authentic-looking chalk type, which can now be spotted on billboards, commercials and the like. In addition to the main headline, we also had the pleasure of working on the campaign’s storyboards with the Bowery’s Rob Elliott. Allison Colpoys is a genius. Mel Campbell is one too. Combine these two powerhouses and you have one good-looking and well-written book. We can only speculate that these were the exact thoughts of Affirm Press when they approached Allison to illustrate and design the cover of Mel Campbell’s ‘Out of Shape: Debunking Myths about Fashion and Fit’. One of our favourite parts of the commission was during the character concepting stage, when Allison perfectly captured the ’ermagerd-how-am-I-going-to-get-this-on?’ dance (see below). Pete McDonald is one of those artists who can expertly execute any style you fling at him. After taking a moment to admire these illustrations, you’ll agree that Pete can definitely nail the vintage look. Pete worked with Cornwell Design to create a set of three illustrations for the Everyday Sunday ”relaxation” drink, for their ‘Berry Bliss’, ‘Citrus’ and ‘Tropical’ flavours. Next time you spot one of these all-natural sodas on your daily travels, grab one. We hear they taste as good as they look.

Yessir – Marguerite Sauvage made it into the pages of US Playboy Magazine. Before your mind wanders too much, we should clarify that it was due to this naughty but nice illustration for the June women’s column. If you read Playboy for the articles, check out the illustration in-situ below.

The Huffington Magazine went all out for their recent Summer issue, by commissioning Toby & Pete to create this elaborate water-slide headline. Titled ‘Best Summer Ever’, the issue covered the season’s best cultural offerings, from film and books, to art and travel. If you’re wondering how the hell Toby & Pete put this together, you’re in luck! The Huffington Magazine put together this ‘making of’ video for all the curious people out there.

We’re very excited to announce that the second instalment of Melbourne GPO’s True Self is now open to the public. Get your handsome selves over to Level 1 of Melbourne’s GPO to view this amazing collaborative show in a custom-created space by Melbourne’s one and only Gloss Creative. All proceeds from True Self will be going directly to Fitted For Work, a not-for-profit organisation that helps women experiencing disadvantage dress the part for job interviews and gain the skills and confidence to find work. The past week saw the opening of the ‘See More Janes’ exhibition, which is a part of Sydney’s 2013 Head On Photo Festival. The exhibition is a project from the See Jane Run collective, which features four female photographers who are “committed to an ongoing dialogue about the visual representation of women and girls in the media and in art”. SEA’s Emma Phillips is in the mix, and her stunning work can be viewed until this Saturday June 8 at the Depot II Gallery in Waterloo. Over the past month our very own Travis Price has been working with Eddie Zammit of T-world and Johnny Cupcakes, for the Sydney Johnny Cupcakes Pop-Up Shop. Travis not only took care of the shop’s collateral, he even created some exclusive t-shirts. Jacky Winter’s Timba Smits also has tees on display in the store, which is stationed on the George St side of the Museum of Contemporary Art building, as a part of Sydney’s Vivid Festival. But wait, there’s more! Travis will also be speaking at Vivid’s Movers & Bakers event this Friday. If you’re keen to head down to the Pop-Up Shop, it’s open from May 24 – June 3. This deserves a big round of applause. RG/A Sydney and MX commissioned The Hatch’s Ben Constantine to create a set of  four illustrations to help launch the MX App. From yesterday, Ben’s weird and wonderful illustrations appeared online and in MX print in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. It’s really refreshing to see such a bold illustration style in this arena, so tip of the hat to RG/A, MX, Ben and the producers here at JW for making it happen.
