If you want a good omen for a summer campaign, you want an artist named Sonny Day to work on it. If you want “Thread Creds”, you probably also want to throw in Biddy Maroney. Tribe recently approached Sonny and Biddy from Webuyyourkids to conjure up seven limited edition t-shirt designs for the new Schweppes Summer Rewind 2011 campaign. Webuyyourkids worked their usual illustration magic to create these retro designs for Schweppes brands including Pepsi, Solo and the always passionate…

Looks like we’re going to need to build a bigger pool room. The latest trophies to come our way were from the 2011 Caxton Awards for Excellence in Newspaper Advertising, where Jacky Winter dominated the illustration category. The first ‘best illustration’ award went to Stuart McLachlan for his work with the always brilliant DDB Melbourne on the Original Juice ‘Tastefully Original’ campaign. The second ‘best illustration’ award went to magicians Toby and Pete and super-creatives George…

The latest Flutter job to hit our screens is this set of super-snappy animated indents for Foxtel Channel 111 Hits. Working with the Bowery’s info-graphics superstar Anthony Calvert, Flutter developed eight separate animated indents for 111 Hits, featuring shows such as ER, Law & Order, Friends and Grey’s Anatomy. Inspired by the 1985 rotoscoped music video for ‘Take On Me’, Flutter and Foxtel asked Anthony to utilise his grade-a rendering skills to illustrate characters from the classic TV…

The Hatch’s Tim Molloy got monstrous with Ginger Whale to create an iPad Book App with a whole lotta heart. Titled The Greebley Greebley, the story allows kidlets to create their own customised monster before they get lost in the tale. It’s available on the iTunes App Store from tomorrow – just in time for you to get your gruesome hands all over it.

Not so long ago, Karl Kwasny was asked to utilise his mad type skills and inject his signature whimsy into the creation of the new Follow Store identity. The brainchild of the delightful duo from The Finders Keepers, Follow is a design concept store situated in Sydney’s Surry Hills. We loved watching this illustration unfold and can’t wait to see these graceful forms in the shop-window-flesh.

Like the good parents we are, we’re proud when we see our babies out there in the real world. The pride factor was kicked up a few notches on this one, as it featured the winning combination of our new animation house Flutter, the always amazing Webuyyourkids and an impossibly cool commercial by BMF. A few moons ago, BMF approached Webuyyourkids to create the animatic frames for their Tooheys Extra Dry ‘Nocturnal Migration’ campaign. A love affair developed, and soon enough Flutter came on the …

Jacky Winter’s Travis Price seems like too much of a nice guy to get mixed up in criminal activity, but hey, it looks as if we got him all wrong. Travis recently worked with Pop Magazine to create these criminal environments for a 10 page fashion spread, playing with concepts such as break and enters, line-ups and forgery. A crafty fella indeed.

We’re absolutely charmed by the great Oslo Davis. We know you are too, so when we got wind of Oslo’s latest project we knew it was our duty to alert you without any dilly-dallying. It’s called Libraryland, and it’s a limited edition book of sketches and illustrations drawn by Oslo at the State Library last year. The thing is, Libraryland needs a wee bit of support before it can be launched into this crazy world of ours. If you want this baby to be born, we suggest you head over to the

Awards and nominations are flying around all over the place for our incredibly brilliant illustrators. The latest is for Oslo Davis, who’s cartoon ‘Assange’ has been nominated for ‘Best Cartoon’ in the prestigious Walkley awards. It’s really tempting to write a pun about leaks right now, but we’re going to abstain. Go Oslo, go.

Everything’s coming up Milhouse at JWHQ these days. In all the excitement we completely failed to mention that last Friday not one, not two, but three of our illustrators worked on campaigns that received MADC Awards. Paul Nolan worked with Publicis Mojo Melbourne to create the ‘Play Melbourne’ logo for Tourism Victoria and walked away with a Silver for best typography, while Stuart McLachlan’s work with DDB Melbourne on the ‘Tastefully Original’ campaign resulted in a Bronze for best…

Fresher than Will, jazzier than Jeff, Jacky Winter went and got itself a serious makeover, with a few extra limbs thrown in for good measure. First up, we have a huge announcement. Jacky Winter have teamed up with those motion mavericks over at 21-19 to create a full-service animation house more spectacular than twelve Zac Efrons. It’s called Flutter, dear friends, and it means that 100-strong team of Jacky Winter artists can now move with ease. Seriously, this pool of talent is so potent…

Heath Killen recently teamed up with the sharp creatives at BMF to give our streets a bit of Tooheys Extra Dry flavour. Tying in with the incredibly cool and hypnotic ‘TED Nocturnal Migration’ commercial, these posters and paste-ups have carried the migration off our screens and into the great outdoors. True to their nocturnal nature, we hear that some of these street posters even glow in the dark. Ah, glowing stags – just another element that deepens our love for this dynamite campaign.

It’s been a bit over a day now since the news of Steve Jobs passing reached our offices, and as the director of the agency, I thought I would break from our regular broadcast on the blog to add my own thoughts and reflections to the growing number of sentiments that have been circulating online and in print out of respect and gratitude for a man whose contributions to the world have not only touched me personally, but also have had an unmistakable impact on the design and illustration…

This time around we’re getting the warm fuzzies from this piece, which will feature at the Florentijn Hofman exhibition ‘Big Dushi Tales’ opening in Berlin tonight. Inspired by one of Hofman’s large scale animals, Rilla illustrated a dog dreaming of dinner. If you’re in that fine part of the world, do us a favour and make us jealous by checking it out.
