Andrew Joyner is one of our most seasoned and talented illustrators, who has recently expanded his repertoire to children’s book publishing. The Terrible Plop is a story written by award-winning author Ursula Dubosarsky and wonderfully illustrated by Joyner. It has received worldwide acclaim since it was released by Penguin Australia early last year, and the accolades keep rolling in. This time it’s the Crichton Award for New Illustrators, which is a specific nod to Joyner’s handiwork.
The Terrible Plop is now up for the Prime Minister’s Literary Awards, which is one of many great things made possible now that we actually have a PM! These awards celebrate the contribution of Australian literature to the nation’s cultural and intellectual life, and The Terrible Plop was shortlisted from more than 320 entries. We hope it takes out the top spot!
