Popular Mechanics went live with their long-awaited iPhone app last week. Being a publication of modern technological bent, they opted to keep the design, editing and programming process in-house. What they’ve managed to produce is a groundbreaking showcase issue, complete with embedded video, 3-D building plans, interactive animations, and most importantly, Jacky Winter’s own Beci Orpin – the mastermind behind this illustrated fly-through of the Red Bull air race, animated with skill and agility by Dom Bartolo of 21-19.
