Monet Alyssa
Bio
Illustrator Monet Alyssa makes dreamy, high-contrast illustrations for musicians and editorial, including Vanity Fair and The New Yorker. She graduated with her BFA in Illustration from the Fashion Institute of Technology and lives in Buffalo, NY. Monet is known for drawing figures, usually women, surrounded by ethereal, psychedelic spaces in high contrast using vivid colour and black.
Music plays a big part in Monet’s process, and recently she created posters for two Khruangbin performances in Tokyo and Philadelphia. Monet has also painted a two-storey mural in Buffalo, and a commemorative portrait poster of John Coltrane for the John Coltrane Jazz Festival in Buffalo, NY, commissioned through The Burchfield Penney Art Center. Monet’s artwork was also featured on local metros buses across her hometown of Buffalo for Black History Month.
